J-baby and I have been here now for a little over two weeks and we were both starting to get a little stir crazy. There is a lot to do on base during the day for J-baby, which is wonderful, but I was starting to need some grown up time to get out of the house.
On Friday we drove down to Fargo to do a little shopping. J-baby’s Aunt Jayme gave him a going away gift card for Toys R Us so we were excited to be able to use it! It was our lucky day, Little Tikes was having a buy one get one free toy sale so we were able to get J-baby TWO awesome toys for the price of our gift card! He came home with the Handi Work Workhorse and the Rumblin’ Engine Lawn Mower.

Before I left my job at home, I bought us a new king size Kingsdown mattress. It is amazing and a marriage saver! I put it in storage and we finally got to se it when we moved in up here. Only, thing we needed was sheets, pillows, a comforter, a bed skirt…oh and a bed frame and eventually a head and foot board! Hahah! But, we have the mattress and box springs and that’s really the most important parts! So, B let me buy us a new king size comforter set. We went to Burlington Coat factory after we ate lunch at Olive Garden, yuum! I found an awesome deal on the comforter set and pillows. I ordered a bed frame from Wal Mart and we should be able to pick it up from the Grand Forks store this week. Then we will have a real live grown up king size bed!
Friday night we were back home in Grand Forks and we tried to go bowling. I am pretty sure that I experienced, for the first time ever, being denied service because of racism. So, needless to say we did not bowl and we will never go back to Red Ray’s Lanes again. Not to be deterred, we made our way to Space Aliens, which I can only describe as a kind of grown up Chucky Cheese. We ate dessert and played games. We won 704 tickets and bought J-baby two match box cars, a blow up hockey stick, a blow up beach ball and a dart gun with our winnings. He was more than excited and we had just as much fun as he did!
Saturday morning I met Ellen for the first time at the gym. I "met" Ellen a few months ago on a message board for Military wives. She had just moved to Grand Forks with her husband. I was so excited to have found another wife that was going to be here. Once I got here and got settled, I put out a message on the board that I was here and hoped that she would see it. She did, and we started texting each other and emailing getting to know each other a bit more. She is WONDERFUL, so cute and sweet and so we made plans to meet at the base gym. We walked and talked for over 45 minutes and I didn't pass out! I am so glad to have met someone here so quickly, especially Ellen.
Saturday night we tried bowling again. This time we stayed on base and had so much fun. J-baby L-O-V-E-D it! He was so cute in the littlest pair of bowling shoes I have ever seen. There were so cute! Here are some pictures from our night at the base bowling alley!
Today we met Ellen and her husband, David at their church in town. They introduced us to another couple friend of their's, Jessica and Aaron. J-baby went to the nursery and the women said he did so good, which was such a relief for us! Church was so good and we are so glad to have found our new church home.
Tomorrow night we are going to visit Ellen and David for dinner. I am so looking forward to spending more time with Ellen and for David and Blake to get to know each other.
It was such a good weekend. I feel so much better having met a few women here, learning our way around town and finding a great church.
